It’s no secret that I LOVE mythology, shapeshifters, and paranormal. And, it is no secret that I LOVE bad boys. Much like peanut butter and jelly, these two things are GREAT together. Mythology and bad boys. (oh, and let’s not forget the bad girls, shall we?)
Over a year ago, almost two, my writing pals and I were kicking around ideas for a “shared universe” that never quite materialized. It was supposed to be about several supernatural clans, each with their own motorcycle club. I somehow got saddled with Kelpies. Okay… I can work with that. I do like my bad boys… But it never got started. Mostly because all of us were so busy with projects that were already started, there was no time to add a “new/shiny” plot bunny to the program.
That was then…
Going to shift gears, because I know you know what is coming, right?
Passionate Ink is a writing organization who is dedicated to helping authors of all sorts of erotic writing genres with their careers. Each year they do an anthology to help ProLiteracy.org.
The previous anthologies were seasonal. (from left to right, Fall’s anthology “Falling Hard”, Winter’s anthology “Holiday Shorts”, and Summer’s anthology “Hot & Sticky”) This year’s anthology however is TROPE related. And of course, the winner was “Enemies to Lovers.”
How could I RESIST a short story like that?
So, I dusted off that old plot bunny idea and created a BRAND NEW short story for this anthology submission. (cross your fingers it will be in the tome, but ONLY 12 people get to be in it and we WANT new authors to get exposure too, so I won’t be too bent out of shape if it isn’t…your gain because it WILL be offered to readers whether it is in the anthology or not)
What’s it about? Well, let me tell you a wee story about a curse, a mermaid, and a kelpie…

Ah… Chloe. The love of my life. My mate, my life-bringer, my fated wife… She wants to drown me in her love. Literally. Loving a mermaid is hard. Good thing I’m the kind of guy who’ll dunk you first.
Reed Each is an jerk. He’s an exiled king, an evil shape-shifting beast, and notoriously linked to numerous missing persons. But I need him. And, if mating doesn’t work, I can always kill him.
