You should see me in a Crown…

We’re officially in November. In prior years, that meant an uptick in the insanity. There was novel writing competitiveness, holiday planning, last-minute crushing deadlines to get that one…last…book…out before the end of the year, and of course, planning next year.

And quite honestly, that’s exactly what I described it as above…insane.

I’ve learned, or at least am trying to learn to take the time in November and December to regroup, be thankful, recharge, and not do so damn much because in the grand scheme of things being present and grateful means more than burying yourself under unrealistic expectations.

Yet… here I am, recovering from a marathon of book launch, public appearances, juggling works in progress, holiday planning, or not planning, end of year discussions with the day job, election season for the writing organization I’m in, contests wrapping up, and volunteering. No wonder I feel like I’m not getting enough done, I’m doing too much.

But…you should see me in a crown.

This weekend was the Royal Book Bash in the DMV. A “star-studded” affair with almost 40 authors, pamper-worthy vendors, a spa-cuterie self-service display, chocolate fondue, and more. The authors displayed their royal selves with individuality and flair.

When I told my other half I ordered a tiara, he joked, “I bet it’s black.”

Well. Yeah. And pointy. 😉

While it was one of many appearances, and not the last one for the year, it reminded me of a very important thing. Take time to pamper yourself. Even if it seems silly. Wear your crowns, folks. Remember the worthy soul inside and celebrate it.

Happy November. Don’t forget I’ll be at Simply Made Here in Catonsville on November 15th, 2025. Find out more at https://simplymadehere.com/ where you can pick up locally made items for gift-giving. Buy from local authors and craft-persons.
