I wrote a post a few weeks ago explaining the language used in Valentine’s Code. It’s “twin” book, Devlin’s Luck contained fewer instances because Ringo’s original language was/is English. Therefore he uses it much more often. However, there are a scattered few instances. Here they are:
Sei incantevole, I tuoi occhi sono come due stelle. Ti adoro. Per te farei di tutto.
You are enchanting, your eyes are like two stars. I adore you. I would do anything for you.
amòre miàu — My love
Taci! — Be quiet (be still)
Ragazzi — Boys (sometimes naughty ones, okay, mostly)
giga — female mistress/prostitute
Nipote — grandson
Filonzàna — mythological woman/weaver of fates/a witch
I’m certain I missed a few. And my editor and I went back and forth on italicizing and not. If I missed those changes, mea culpa.
Also, I ran into this lovely video explainer was to why the CMOS is a bit out of touch with reality – Although Hemingway would have argued that way back when.
