Wow, my eyes have been leaking lately.
Code Name “Eagle” is going to be officially renamed to its actual title, the cover is designed (sneak peek below for insiders like YOU), and I’ve got updates on my progress.
My intrepid BETA reader team has been giving feedback on the first fifteen chapters or so, but I’m going to be inundating them with MORE soon. I’m on chapter 27 of 31 (planned) as of today. There have been some changes to the original plan, and this emotional journey is going to pay off in the end. I know it will because it’s making me cry every time I read it.
And that’s a GREAT thing. Do you know why?
Because Wombat is such a Golden Retriever type. He’s not the type of biker who is going to leave Honor high and dry. Nope. He’s a ride AND die for his woman type guy. (That’s not a spoiler. Neither of my leads are killed. I’m not that evil.) Hence the tears I’m giving myself. He’ll put himself through hell to protect her. And that means protecting her emotions and the things she loves, too. SWOON!
However, this one is going to hit some folks HARD. When it comes out, please read the trigger warnings before starting this book… Especially the ones about children and miscarriage. Yeah, I went there. (Bad Calia!)
To give you some GOOD news, I’ve got a cover to let you peek at. It comes with the title: “Not Mine to Rescue” not bad, huh?
Here’s little insight on this choice.
First, let’s talk about their age and employment gap. She’s a top-notch defense lawyer, he’s a biker picking up work with the club that isn’t exactly on the up and up all the time. He also rescues animals for the local shelters and wildlife services, which mostly works to help his sister and her dream to become a vet someday. It doesn’t exactly pay well, though. Honor is also thirteen (YES, 13!) years older than he is. Add to that, her ex really hasn’t let her go despite divorcing her and marrying his pregnant girlfriend. He is still very much in the picture. Working together sucks for divorced couples, no?
Wombat is also the only boy in his family. He has three sisters. No wonder he runs to the club to get some male bonding. But biker bravado and bluster will not work on a smart woman like Honor. She sees through it and calls him on it. There will not be any, “sit off to the side, little lady, and let the man handle it” BS allowed. Honor can and will save herself if needed.
Except she can’t fix her poor broken heart.
Don’t get me wrong, her ex didn’t cause that, grief did.
Enter Wombat. He’s always helpful, always ready with a joke or a distraction, and always taking the brunt of the work for the people he cares about. Be it the club, his sister, or the woman of his dreams, he will do what it takes to make their lives easier. Even if it means taking the blame for something he didn’t do.
Not Mine to Rescue is slated for a September 2026 release.
